Lorron James is CEO of James Group. He joined in February 2007 and has served many roles throughout his tenure, including Director of Supply Chain Management and Vice President of Business Development. Prior to JGI, Lorron graduated from Arizona State University in 2005 and worked with Major League Baseball’s Arizona Diamondbacks as Community Affairs Coordinator for two and a half years. He current serves various charitable and civic groups in Detroit, including Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation and as a member of the Board of Director’s at the Detroit Athletic Club. Lorron is a graduate of the Leadership Detroit XXXI class through the Detroit Regional Chamber, member of YPO (Southern 7) and part-owner of the Grand Rapids Drive Basketball Team. He was appointed by Mayor Mike Duggan to the Detroit Wayne County Port Authority Board and also appointed by Governor Rick Snyder to the Financial Review Commission in 2014, helping oversee the City of Detroit re-investments post-bankruptcy.

John A. James is Founder and Chairman of James Group International. A native of Starkville, Mississippi, Mr. James received a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, MS in 1964. He also studied Guidance at the University of Toledo in 1965 and Business Administration at Wayne State University from 1969-1972. In 1966, Mr. James enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served until 1969. He was a Commissioned Officer in the Corps of Engineers and received a Bronze Star, an Army Commendation Medal and the equivalents of these awards, which the Vietnamese government also issued to him. Mr. James is the first African American whose company was issued broad operating authority to transport automotive parts and other commodities in the State of Michigan. He is also the first African American nationally to be granted such authority by the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) to operate in interstate and foreign commerce since the ICC began regulating trucking in 1935. Due to his own business experiences, which includes taking his case for transportation authority to the U.S. Supreme Court, Mr. James makes every effort to share his knowledge and expertise with other minority business entrepreneurs attempting to enter the highly competitive business world.

John E. James is President of James Group. An eight-year veteran of the US Army, John began his military career at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Systems (Industrial) Engineering. He earned a Master of Supply Chain Management and Information Systems from Penn State University Smeal School of Business in 2014 and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business in May 2015. Prior to joining JGI in 2012, he served eight years of active duty military service as a Ranger-qualified aviation officer where he had the honor of leading two Apache platoons in combat operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom 07-09. In addition to serving on several charitable and community Boards in Detroit, John has also received accolades from many industry groups, including DBusiness magazine’s 2014 “40 Under 40”. In 2018, John was a candidate for U.S. Senate in Michigan. He currently resides in Farmington Hills with his wife, Elizabeth, and three sons.
